Tutotial 2 (Layering)

Hi, I'm back so I'm going to teach you the layering process using Adobe Photoshop. Layering is a process which allows you to make changes on top of what’s already there in a non-destructive way. This means you can edit your image as you like, making each change on a new layer, and just hide or delete layers to see the previous version. Think of each layers as a piece of transparent plastic or glass that you lay over the original image. You can make changes to each layer without affecting any of the others.

So let's get started. Firstly, you need some images. Here's some examples of the images for this process:

One of MMU's Building

MMU's Mascot

MMU's Logo

First, I'm going to open the ''One of MMU's Building''.

Then, I'm going to open the ''MMU mascot'' image in another tab.

At the ''MMU's Mascot'' image, highlight the whole image using the Rectangular Marquee Tool. Once you highlighted the image, select only the mascot using Magic Wand by click anywhere other than the mascot.

Next, move the mascot image to the ''One of MMU's Building'' image by using Move Tool.

Do the same thing to the '' MMU Logo'' image and you will have something like this:

You can adjust the opacity of the MMU logo at the Layer menu which is on the lower right side. When you want to adjust the opacity of an image, make sure you are in the correct layer like for example, the ''MMU logo'' image is at Layer 2 so click on Layer 2 before changing the opacity of the image.

If you want to add some spice to the image, you can add text. To add text by selecting the Horizontal Writing Tool which  is on 16th tool on the left side. You can move the words or adjust the font and color of the words using the Character Menu which is right above the Layers Menu.

The Final Touch

So that's all for my tutorial. Stay tune for Tutorial 3 =)) Thank You
